Poptun

This week was a pretty good week... not as good as the last one... but it was still pretty good.  Wendy didnt come to church this week which was a bummer.. but we are planning on this next week... but she is progressing pretty good in her life...

Also this week we did a lot of service and had some activities that were pretty good and we are just chuggin along here in Poptun...

One thing that was cool is that our Elders quorum president, his wife is a little inactive, and she was sick with a lot of pain... and we just felt like we should pass by his house to see him... (although we didnt know she was sick) and well it turns out that we gave her a blessing and she got better and she came to church.  So that was pretty great!

But to be honest there wasnt anything else that was spectacular this week... so we will see how it goesthis week!

Fotos and the week summary...

Well This week was good and a little bit stressful... We were able to have a pretty good week... mainly because all the baptizms went through successfully.  We baptized a guy named tereso and his family.. it was a pretty great experience.  He is such a great guy and will be a great member here in Cubulco.. Maybe he will be the person to get this place going strong...  So we are super happy about that.
Also as shown is these photos we also helped a less active member to chop down a tree.. so that he would go to church.. so that was pretty great also!  We are just going along pretty smoothly here.
Also we are now in a trio.. because Elder Barahona ended up going home.. because he had appendicitus and his appendix exploded and that was why he was throwing up blood.. so they did surgery on him last monday and yesterday he went home.  So I am now back with Elder Gomez.. .and his companion Elder Nombrado.  Elder Nombrado is samoan.. he is a super good guy elder nombrado... We get along super well..  So that is pretty fun!  But I think that that is about it for this week...

Conference and Photos

This week was a pretty busy week...  We were excited for conference, and it all turned out pretty good... Usually here in Guatemala the internet is super slow... and we have struggles usually seeing conference, but this time it worked super well!  So we were able to learn a lot and have a great time letting our investigators know who is the prophet that he has the power to talk to God and receive revelation for the whole world!  So we enjoyed that a lot... we were able to have some success with that and we are hoping to have a good couple of weeks here...
Other than that our week here was pretty slow... because here it is called holy week... so there are a bunch of Catholics and their wicked traditions... so that was kind of a bummer.. because there is literaly nobody in their house.  So yeah not much to say this week just that I am busy and I will write more next week!
Just some pictures of us here in Cubulco.. doing service and here are the other elders... waiting for us... to start church...

Changes, but not really....

Well this week was changes... but I´m going to be staying here again in Los Campos 2...  so yeah but im super excited for that, we have some good plans for this area the next change!  But yeah this week was pretty crazy...  First off on tuesday, we had a little windstorm, that had the same effect on Utah like 3 years ago, but wasnt nearly as strong...  But the houses here are hardly built, so yeah there were roofs flying off and trees falling down, stuff like that...  So we thought, well this is a great opportunidad for service, so we were walking in the street in the pouring rain looking for service...  and at first we were using our jackets and stuff to keep us dry, but then we had the idea to take off our jackets, brilliant right, and have our white shirts showing.  And well actually it was a good idea, because there was hardly anyone in the streets but the people that were in the streets recognized us as ¨the mormons¨ and well we ended up finding 7 new investigators that day with like 5 lessons taught, which is a ton...  And also we had one of our investigators that wasnt really too interested, that we helped, that now is super interested, and she says that she wants to get baptized this saturday... So we are hoping that she will follow through with it, because she is kind of flaky, but yeah we are hoping for her...  So yeah that was a pretty great experience..

Also this week we were able to find some super interested in the gospel.. IT was great!  And almost all of these people came from references from the members... Like the people that we helped with service are great, but they listen usually for like 2 or 3 lessons, and they dont progress, but the people from references are great!  WE got a reference from a member that we literally just passed by his house for like 2 minutes just to get to know him and put another appointment... and he was awesome, he said that ihe is going to go to church and he wants to get baptized and stuff like that... So yeah That was pretty great!

Then today we went to a cave for pday that was pretty sweet!  It was like a 15 minute hike through the cave to a point that was hardish to reach, like crawling through little holes and climbing up rocks, and crossing rivers, but the end was awesome... we had everyone turn off their lights and it was literally so black, pitch black..  And that just reminded me of Life and enduring to the end...  The hike wasnt hard for the people that were prepared, or the people that had the desired to get the end results. but for those who just thought stuff like, ¨oh this is just a cave its not that cool, or I dont want to hike im tired¨  didnt get to see the end results...  And well they missed out... They did everything except for enduring to the end... They went to the cave, they payed to enter the cave, and they started the journey, but they didnt finish...  It is like some people with the doctrine of Christ... They have faith, they have repented, they have been baptized, and they have received the holy ghost, but if they dont endure to the end, they wont get the end results...  Also the same example with Bubba Watson in the Masters this week... He was able to keep his head up and endure to the end, and ended up winning... He didnt let the fact that he was down 3, get him down... He just kept going at his own pace and won...  So yeah sorry for those who dont understand that about golf... but yeah That is my little spiritual thought for this week...  Hope you liked it...

We were helping clean out a water tank of a member, and well I had to take the opportunity to pose for this foto, then my comp took a foto of his face.

This is from the divisions that we did, and in there area there is a little runway, that obviously isnt to occupied so we took pictures...

My area!  There are a lot of hills....

Photos!

We ate lunch at a recent converts house, and this is Carlos... He is awesome, He is a recent convert from December and he already knows a ton, and leaves with us!

Also another day we ate These.  They are called enchiladas, so when I heard we were eating enchiladas I was excited, then I saw this, and I thought ¨This isnt an enchilada...¨ But yeah it is just a tostada with beets and a piece of a hard boiled egg, and and little piece of an onion, and chili...  Gross

We went to go do service with this family that is going to get baptized, and we went to go chopear (Im not sure how to say that in english but it is when you cut down a bunch of weeds with machetes...)  So this was the path to get there!  Super beautiful..

This is us chopeando, well actually just me, but yeah im chopeando, like a boss...

Good week!

This week has been pretty great!  We had many good things happen this week!  First off, I cant remember what day, but we were walking in the street after about three ish appointments had fallen and so we were just walking and talking and not really paying attention just kind of walking...  and I looked up and we saw a mom and two daughters who were carrying their firewood to their house, not uncommon, and I just felt like I should ask them if they want help... So I did...  And we just walked to their house which was like two blocks away dropped off the wood, and asked if we could come back..  She said yes, but we werent to excited still becuase that happens a lot and they usually just say yes to be nice, and you can never teach them again...  But anyways we passed by two ish days later just to see if they had time and they said yes!  So we were super excited and it just kept getting better and better.  We found out that the mom was baptized like 29 years ago and has only been to church once, and that was when she got the holy ghost...  And that she would like to go to church again.  And not only that the daughter, Silvia, said that she wanted to get baptized, and the son, who wasnt there when we first met them, said he would think about it.  But we still havent been able to contact the dad.  So they assisted church yesterday and are super excited!  So that was a pretty great experience that had happened this week.  It is great to know that if we always have a good attitude that we will be able to have good things happen.  That is one thing that I have learned that a good attitude is the most important thing!

So yeah this week has been a pretty good week and the next even better, and the next even better! (if that is even possible)  But yeah things are going good here right now!  Hard work pays off!

Oh and yeah have a good time...  Stuart out!

Photos!

This is my dinner.. Hot dogs with eggs ketchup and chili sauce..  a little odd but fabulously delcious.

We built a teepee-bonfire thingy for service because she wanted to burn all this stuff so we had a little fun while we were at it...

We had to move elder Call out of his house because his house was hauted, so this is all their stuff that we moved.  It was fun to play tetris with furniture...
